ContributorNetwork - COMMENTARY | The Republican-led House of Representatives passed the anti-constitutional H.R. 1255 on Friday (otherwise known as the Government Shutdown Prevention Act) by a vote of 221-202. This bill, in some parallel universe, makes the House spending bill passed in February "law" if the Senate doesn't act by April 6 (before the looming shutdown on April 8). That spending bill is loaded with cuts for the rest of Fiscal Year 2011 to the tune of $60-plus billion, but in the "real world" has no authority unless it's passed by the Senate and signed by the president.

How a Government Shutdown Would Affect the Military (ContributorNetwork)

Posted: 02 Apr 2011 01:33 PM PDT

ContributorNetwork - April 8 is coming upon us fast, and for those of you who don't know what this date means, it is the day that the last funding bill that was passed by the government will expire. It is the sixth bill of its kind to be passed because Congress just can't seem to agree on a 2011 budget.
