Sarah Palin Moves into Statistical Tie for Lead in Wide-Open GOP 2012 Field (ContributorNetwork) Posted: 22 May 2011 12:24 PM PDT ContributorNetwork - Odd as it might seem, given that her favorability ratings are not that high, the former governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin, is now within the margin of error of the lead in many polls, indicating she very well could be the preferred 2012 presidential candidate of the Republican Party. |

After Failed Judgment Day Campaign, Where is Harold Camping? (ContributorNetwork) Posted: 22 May 2011 04:06 PM PDT ContributorNetwork - COMMENTARY | It is hard to blame Harold Camping for keeping a low profile. The 89-year old predicted the end of the world on May 21, 2011. Of course, the calendar is not wrong and it would seem the evangelical leader was. Camping has yet to make any public remarks over his second failed end of the world prophecy. Previously, he believed that 1994 would mark end of the world, but later attributed his mistake to math error. Still, he pressed on with his May 21 Judgment Day campaign; he and his followers spent around $100 million on billboards and marketing for the event. |
Romney, Gingrich Targeted in 2012 Attack Ad (ContributorNetwork) Posted: 22 May 2011 01:52 PM PDT ContributorNetwork - The first televised political attack ad of the 2012 presidential campaign found Republican targets in declared runner Newt Gingrich and potential candidate Mitt Romney. Airing Friday in South Carolina, in advance of Romney's scheduled visit, the spot was the work of Democratic operatives Priorities USA Action. The ad continues the U.S. campaigning trend of pulling out negative television advertising as a weapon from presidential campaign arsenals. |

Biden talks seen last hope for debt ceiling deal (Reuters) Posted: 22 May 2011 01:12 PM PDT Reuters - A deal to lift the debt limit may hinge on negotiations led by Vice President Joe Biden, which still have a long way to go to close the gap between deeply divided Democrats and Republicans. |
The Sad Stories of Believers Disappointed by Non-Apocalypse (The Atlantic Wire) Posted: 22 May 2011 12:20 PM PDT The Atlantic Wire - If you hadn't noticed, the world didn't end yesterday, despite predictions by radio host Harold Camping, who spent a multimillion dollar campaign spreading the word, funded by donations from other believers. But while many were "celebrating" the Earth's continued existence at "Rapture Parties," for Camping's believers, the noticeable lack of earthquakes, brimstone, famine, and death was deeply disappointing. |
How Many Jewish Voters Has Obama Alienated? (ContributorNetwork) Posted: 22 May 2011 12:06 PM PDT ContributorNetwork - COMMENTARY | Reuters is reporting that many Jewish Americans are starting to rethink their support for President Barack Obama in the wake of his call for a return to the pre 1967 borders between Israel and the Palestinians. How much that will affect the 2012 campaign is unclear. |
