U.S. in the Middle as Mubarak Won't Seek Reelection (ContributorNetwork) Posted: 02 Feb 2011 05:29 PM PST ContributorNetwork - COMMENTARY | It is unclear if Egyptians have a similar custom or tradition like that in the United States of rising at dawn and watching to see if a particular rodent will see it's shadow and, if it does, portend that there will be six more weeks of bad weather. But one thing is clear: a troubled and restless, poor and frustrated populace of Cairo woke up on the morning of Groundhog Day and saw the shadow of President Hosni Mubarak, the dictator whose resignation they have been calling for over the past few days, stretching out across the land, according to Reuters, in the form of bussed-in pro-Mubarak supporters and patriotic songs and messages being played on government radio and television. His speech Tuesday night had promised seven more months (presidents are sworn in days after the election) of Mubarak rule... |
