Museveni has held onto power using force and coercion, arresting primary opposition leader Kizza Besigye in 2006. But for this five-year term election, the former guerrilla leader may benefit from being able to point to peace in the north, oil discoveries, and the fact Besigye, his former doctor, isn't perceived to be an attractive candidate by voters. |
