Defector do-over? Iran scientist wants to go home (AP)

This frame grab image taken from a video posted on YouTube and which appeared on Iranian television on June 7, 2010, shows a man whom Iranian broadcasters identified as Iranian nuclear scientist Shahram Amiri. In this video, posted to YouTube immediately after another video was posted in which Amiri, speaking in Farsi, claims he was kidnapped by American and Saudi intelligence agents and taken to the U.S., the man also identifies himself as Shahram Amiri, an Iranian citizen. But in this second video, Amiri says he is in the United States with the intention of obtaining an academic degree, that he is safe and that the 'rumors and accusations made against him in the past year are untrue.' In this video, there is no context about who made it, who he is speaking to or where, and he does not give the date of when he is speaking. Amiri, who sought refuge at a Pakistani embassy office in Washington Monday July 12, 2010 and who Iran claims was abducted, is free to return to his homeland, the State Department said Tuesday.
